Our Staff
Rachel Wilcox, our owner and lead Montessori teacher, graduated from Louisiana State University in 1992. She received her Montessori teaching certificate from NCME in San Diego, California in 1995. She has been a Montessori teacher for the last 30 years. She has worked in a variety of Montessori schools throughout the years and opened her own school, Lakeview Maria Montessori Preschool, in 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She is a member of Louisiana Montessori Association. She has served as a Montessori educator who visits and helps to evaluate Montessori schools in Louisiana and California.
Rachel is a Montessori minded parent who has a college aged daughter and continues to share her love of the Montessori Method.
Lizzy Cousins, our assistant Montessori teacher, graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2019. She is a mother to two children and has a passion for the early childhood years. She is in the classroom five days a week and is knowledgeable about the Montessori method, incorporating it in her own home as well. She also works as a local doula helping families adjust to motherhood.
